History
UNITED GRINDING North America was established in 1984 under the name Hauni-Blohm-Schaudt in Richmond, Virginia. The name changed in 1989 to Blohm, Inc.
In 1994, Blohm Inc. and its parent company, Schleifring GmbH, a division of Koerber Group established United Grinding Technologies, Inc., in Miamisburg, Ohio to consolidate the North American operations of all their machine tool companies. In the summer of 1995, the building in Miamisburg was expanded and improved to house the corporate offices, the new showroom for machines, the warehouse/shop, and the service department. This location still serves as the company's North American headquarters to cover the US, Canada, and Mexico, and supports cylindrical, surface, and profile grinders. An office in Fredericksburg, Virginia handles tool grinders and measuring machines.
In 2013, Körber Schleifring and United Grinding Technologies were combined under the new brand name UNITED GRINDING Group - Körber Solutions. This move expanded the company's global market position in relation to grinding technology, service and volume.
UNITED GRINDING North America is responsible for the importation, sales, service and "Americanization" of high precision grinding machines built by the member companies of the group in Germany and Switzerland. The companies originally included Blohm Maschinenbau GmbH, Sheffield-Schaudt Maschinenbau GmbH, Maegerle AG, and Studer AG. Today, UNITED GRINDING North America, Inc. companies also include: Mikrosa, Jung, and Ewag.

Surface Grinding
MÄGERLE, BLOHM and JUNG offer machines for surface grinding, the most common form of grinding that produces smooth finishes on flat surfaces and Machines, and profile grinding, the grinding of cylindrical work without traversing the wheel whose periphery is profiled to the form required and extends over the full length of the work. In Surface grinding, the grinding wheel revolves on a spindle, and the workpiece, mounted on either a reciprocating or a rotary table, is brought into contact with the grinding wheel.
MÄGERLE
MÄGERLE machines are high-performance grinding systems for handling simple and complex surface and profile grinding tasks.
BLOHM
BLOHM produces standard machines for individual and small batch production, as well as customized production machines.
JUNG
JUNG manufactures small and medium-sized grinding machines for fine finishing precision parts for the tool and die industry, automotive industry and its suppliers, electronics and optical industry as well as the aerospace industry and medical technology.
Cylindrical Grinding
UNITED GRINDING North America distributes cylindrical grinders from STUDER, SCHAUDT and MIKROSA. Cylindrical grinding is a process that forms the outside of an object. Common applications are cylinders, an ellipse, a cam or crankshaft.
STUDER
STUDER manufactures internal and external cylindrical grinders for small and mid-sized workpieces. The brand consists of more than twenty different machines ranging from standard machines to complex system solutions for tool and die makers, the automotive and aerospace industry, pneumatics/hydraulics, electronics/electrical engineering, medical technology, the watch industry and job order production.
SCHAUDT
SCHAUDT supplies solutions for cylindrical grinding, noncircular grinding and universal grinding between centers. Common applications are grinding camshafts, crankshafts or gear shafts in the automotive industry and for the mechanical engineering and roll manufacturing industry.
Tool Grinding
WALTER and EWAG
UNITED GRINDING North American's tool grinding machines are produced by WALTER and EWAG. WALTER produces CNC machines for grinding and/or eroding metal, wood and PCD tools and rotationally-symmetrical production components. EWAG machines are high-precision tool grinding machines commonly used in the watch industry, the dental, electrical, automotive and aviation industries, as well as in the manufacture of precision micro-components.
